Renew your licence
Your licence covers one practising year. Renew before the deadline, or you may not offer architectural services until you do.
This year
Renew through the member portal
Licences run by calendar year and are renewed through members.ria.rw. The annual practising licence is RWF 250,000 to RWF 350,000 for national members depending on class, RWF 200,000 or USD 200 for visiting and foreign members, and RWF 500,000 or USD 500 for registered firms. What you must supply
- Your current membership details, confirmed and up to date
- CPD or professional training certificates — at least two from previous years and two current
- Proof of payment of the licence fee for the year
- For firms, confirmation that the named responsible professional is still in post and licensed
If you miss it
What happens if you miss the deadline
Your entry on the public register changes to show that you are registered but not licensed for the current year. Anyone checking your name — a client, a district office, a bank — sees that. You may not offer architectural services until the licence is renewed.

It is administrative, not disciplinary
A lapsed licence is not the same as being struck off, and the route back does not involve a hearing.
FAQ
Does RIA recommend a firm?
No. We register and license; we do not rank, rate or refer. Any site or person offering an “RIA-approved” shortlist is not doing so with our involvement.
Can I appoint an individual rather than a firm?
Yes, provided they are licensed for the current year. Many registered professionals practise on their own account.
