Apply for registration — architects from outside East Africa
Architects qualified outside the region may register individually, register a firm, or register for a single project. The route depends on how long you will work here and in what capacity.

Assemble your documents
An application letter, a detailed CV, your notified diploma, a portfolio, a logbook of professional training records, professional training certificates and annual practice licences (at least three previous and one current), a copy of your work permit or visa, a copy of your passport, and a recommendation letter from your home regulator. - 03
Pay the application fee
RWF 500,000, non-refundable, payable after the secretariat confirms your file is complete. Foreign registration is limited to visiting membership on a project basis; corporate membership becomes available after a minimum of five years of committed practice here. - 04
Confirm before you travel
If you are coming for one project rather than to establish a practice, project registration is usually the right route.
FAQ
I have seen their certificate. Do I still need to check?
Yes. A certificate proves registration at the date it was issued; it does not prove a current licence. The register is the only thing that shows the position today.
Two people have the same name.
The result lists them both with their firm and district so you can tell them apart. If you still cannot, ask for the registration number and check that.
